I am always excited to meet you, my new, talented clients who send me your work for song and lyric evaluations.  I refer to this as a song consultation.

Selling songs is not done in the music business.  Even so, many new writers who are unaware of how the real music business operates, dream of selling songs.  They ache to hear their work played on just one radio station – just once – and feel that’s accomplished by selling songs.

Songwriters always ask me,

“How do I sell my songs? Can you show me how to sell my songs? Please help me sell my songs.”

After ankle surgery, my right foot was very swollen. I couldn’t possibly wear my regular grey sneakers. So I bought another pair a half size bigger. The big shoe went on my right foot, the regular shoe on my left. Since the bigger shoe was sold out in grey, I wore one black shoe on my right foot, and one grey on the left.

I don’t care what the naysayers in your life may think. You are talented and have a special contribution to make. We are all richer for your being here, sharing your gifts with us. Something important would be missing without you.

Some of my clients send me lyrics that need music.  Some send me music that needs lyrics.  Others send me finished songs that are maybe 80% there – and when I add the Molly to them, look out – they are potential hits!  

Too many very, very talented lyricists introduce themselves to me, and to everybody else on the planet, by saying “I’m just a lyricist.”

Yes, I am talented. But everybody's talented. I just wanted it more.
