What if Mozart’s Mom Forced Him to be a CPA?
By Molly-Ann Leikin
SONGWRITING COACH & MARKETEER
I don’t care what the naysayers in your life may think.
You are talented and have a special contribution to make.
We are all richer for your being here, sharing your gifts with us.
Something important would be missing without you.
As artists, our job is to ask what if? Why not? How about..?
As artists, our job is to dream.
Our fortune is in our fingerprint.
Nobody but another artist can understand that.
So when somebody shouts, “you’ll never make it,”
Ask him what he’d sing without his favorite song,
Or Rachmaninoff? Harper Lee? Or Monet?
As they were coming up, every artist who fills our lives with love
Was considered nuts, just as we are.
What if Mozart’s mom forced him to be a CPA?
What if the Beatles formed a dermatology group.
Or if Oprah Winfrey were a driver for UPS.
And Maya Angelou answered 800 numbers in New Delhi?
Stick with it.
We need you.
I promise, you won’t always be singing alone.
That could change as soon as tomorrow.
